On November 12, 2023, officials of the Sports Department of Uttarakhand said that for the first time in the state, six players will be given the Himalaya Putra Award. In this, this award will be given to players of one disabled person, two team and three individual events. The process of selection for the award has started.

- It may be noted that these players who have excelled in sports are honored with the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award, Lifetime Achievement Award and sports coaches are honored with the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Award every year, but the players are going to receive the Himalaya Putra Award for the first time.
- Sports Department officials According to this, the Sports Directorate has received applications for many awards till October 16. After scrutiny of the applications, there will be a meeting of the committee formed for this.
- The names of the selected players and sports coaches will be sent to the government through the committee. The names for the awards will be announced after the approval of the High Power Committee of the Government and the Sports Minister.
- Names will also be announced for these awards: One player from the state will receive the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award, one will receive the LifeTime Achievement Award and one sports coach will receive the Devbhoomi Uttarakhand Dronacharya Award.
