- On November 21, 2022, in order to encourage film production in Bihar, the state government has made a new film policy to give industry status to the film production sector, soon proposals related to the film policy will be sent to the cabinet for approval.

- With films getting industry status, people engaged in film production will also get the benefits of subsidy, single window system and other facilities like the industry.
- Under the new policy, if a producer shoots 75 percent of his film in Bihar, he will be given a subsidy according to the cost.
- A single window system has been provided for taking all clearances related to film production, for which Bihar Film Production Corporation has been made the nodal agency.
- At present, the benefit of subsidy will be available to those who make films in Hindi, Bhojpuri, Magahi, Maithili, Angika and Bajjika languages.
- According to the new provision, if a film is awarded at a national and international festival, it will be given additional subsidy.
- The new film policy also provides for subsidy to increase infrastructure in multiplexes and cinema halls. Right now, many cinema halls in the state are closed or not built in a modern way. In this, subsidy will be given according to the cost.
- With this policy, the government hopes that employment opportunities will increase in the state, local artists and technicians will get employment and respect due to the shooting of films in the state. The State Film Development Corporation will prepare a list of such artists and technicians and also determine their remuneration.
- For the development of the film, the government has taken responsibility from the Tourism Department and given it to the Art, Culture and Youth Department. The department has made the Film Development Corporation the nodal agency for this.
- It is noteworthy that superhit films like Gandhi in Bihar, Manjhi The Mountain Man in Gaya and Half Girlfriend have been shot at Gandhi Ghat on the banks of Ganga in Patna.
