Why in News?
- On October 18, 2022, Haryana Water Resources Authority Chairman Keshni Anand Arora informed in a review meeting held on sustainable water resources management and scheme implementation in the state that 'District Water Resources Plan 2022-25' has been prepared in the state.

- Under this scheme, concrete and effective steps will be taken for water scarcity as well as waterlogged areas in the state every year.
- Keshni Anand Arora said that the Water Resources Scheme 2022-25 will work better towards sustainable water management and scheme implementation for 22 districts of the state. Under this action plan, a target has been set to reduce the water gap by 45 percent during the next three years in water-logged areas with water scarcity .
- He said that this scheme will solve the problem of water shortage and water logging by 10 percent in the first year, 15 percent in the second year and 20 percent in the third year.
- The Chairman said that due to the efforts made in yamunanagar and Ambala districts, both the districts have done pioneering work in the field of water logging and water management. He directed to prepare an integrated and comprehensive three-year village-level water action plan for all the districts.
- He said that there is a need to implement a comprehensive plan involving the use of permanent water of surface water and ground water for the lagging districts in the implementation of this scheme, whose use can be increased and more positive results can be brought.
- The Chairperson said that treated wastewater should be used for non-potable water purposes in the state so that dependence on freshwater resources can be reduced. For this, at least two new projects should be invited from each district and more monitoring should be done about the implementation of this scheme.
- Chief Engineer Satbir Singh Kadian said that this is an important one-point program of the Water Resources Authority and The Water Management Department. This biennial water management scheme will be implemented in all the districts by October 24 as per the instructions of the Chief Minister.
