Why in News?
On May 9, 2022, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal informed that it has been decided to prepare the District Good Governance Index for overall development in the state.
Key Points
- Through this a state level development index can be prepared by conducting comparative studies at the district level.
- This will ensure healthy competition in terms of development among the districts, which will result in an increase in the development index of the state.
- This index will be similar to the index produced by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir.
- Noteworthy, 58 development indexes on 10 sectors have been prepared by the Jammu and Kashmir government.
- These 10 sectors are – Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Commerce and Industry, Human Resource Development, Public Health, Civil Infrastructure and Facilities, Social Welfare and Development, Financial Inclusion, Justice and Public Security, Environment and Civil Central Governance.
