50% discount for Women in Roadways Buses Fares

Why in News?
On June 22, 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has now approved the proposal to give 50 percent concession to women and girls for travelling in all categories of Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation buses within the state limits.
Key Points:
- According to the proposal, women and girls will be charged half the fare for travelling in all categories of corporation buses. At present, 50 percent concession was being given to women and girls only for travelling in ordinary class buses.
- It is worth mentioning that in the budget 2023-24, the Chief Minister had announced to increase the concession given to women from 30 to 50 percent for travelling in ordinary roadways buses.
- This announcement was also being implemented from April 1, 2023. Thereafter, on May 25, 2023, at the inauguration ceremony of the new bus terminal at Sindhi Camp, Jaipur, the Chief Minister announced the implementation of this concession in all categories of roadways buses. The Chief Minister has given this approval in the implementation of the said announcement.
