On the occasion of Teacher's Day on September 5, 2022, President Draupadi Murmu honoured Khurshid Ahmed, a teacher of Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh with the National Teacher Award-2022 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

- It is worth mentioning that this year 46 teachers from across the country were selected for the National Teacher Award, including the only teacher from Uttar Pradesh, Khurshid Ahmed.
- Khurshid Ahmed was presented with a silver medal, a check of Rs 50,000 prize money and a certificate by the President.
- Khurshid Ahmed of Composite School Sehwa in Deoria has been given this award for innovation in science education. He has been selected alone among the basic and secondary school teachers of the state.
- It is worth noting that on Teacher's Day, the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education organizes a national function every year on 5th September, in which national awards are given to the best teachers of the country.
- Teachers are selected for the awards in a transparent manner through an online three-tier selection process.
- The objective of conferring the National Award to Teachers is to underline the unique contribution of the teachers of the country and to honour such teachers, who have not only improved the quality of school education but also enriched the lives of their students with their commitment and hard work.
