Key Points

  • Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has started the process of formulation and implementation of welfare programs and schemes on the basis of their ideas and suggestions by establishing dialogue with different sections of the state.
  • Its main objective is to connect the concerned class with the main stream of development by providing maximum benefits. In this sequence, after re-organizing Panchayats of different classes, Panchayats of Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-nomadic classes are being organized.
  • It is noteworthy that for the development and welfare of denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes in Madhya Pradesh, a separate 'Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-nomadic Tribes Welfare Department' was established by the notification of the Madhya Pradesh government on 22 June 2011.
  • 51 castes of Madhya Pradesh have been included in the denotified, nomadic and semi-nomadic tribes. The main problem of these tribes is lack of permanent housing due to educational backwardness, economic deprivation and nomadic tendency.
  • To overcome the above problems of these tribes, a grant of up to Rs 1.50 lakh per beneficiary is given under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana to provide them with residential facilities at one place.
