Why In News?
- On August 25, 2022, Minister of Tourism and Culture of the state and in-charge of Prayagraj Mandal, Jaiveer Singh told the journalists that before the Prayagraj Mahakumbh, cruise services and waterways will start here on the lines of Varanasi.

- Minister Jaiveer Singh said that water transport from Prayagraj will also start through the heliport that will be built at Sangam before Kumbh. Ganga Expressway will further facilitate the access of Prayagraj from other districts including Delhi.
- The state government plans to start cruise transport from Prayagraj to Varanasi. It is worth mentioning that cruise service has already been started in the mythological city of Varanasi located in the state.
- It is also the route of National Waterway No.1 (From Prayagraj to Haldia), so in future, in addition to freight, the waterway from here can also be used for the transportation of the common man.
- Minister Jaiveer Singh said that curzon bridge, which has been declared unusable by the railways, will be developed for tourists as a heritage.
- It is worth mentioning that the age of Curzon Bridge on the Ganga river on Prayagraj to Ayodhya and Lucknow railroad is 117 years. This bridge was opened for rail traffic on June 15, 1905. At that time, the Awadh and Rohilkhand Railway used to operate this railway line. Road traffic through this bridge started on 20 December 1905. Road and rail traffic was closed from this bridge in the year 1998.
