Why in News
- On January 5, 2022, the Government of Madhya Pradesh merged the Center for Climate Change and Sustainable Development (Climate Change and Sustainable Development Institute) with the Environment Planning and Coordination Organization (EPCO).
Key Points
- It is noteworthy that in the annual meeting of the Institute of Climate Change and Sustainable Development (CCC&SD) chaired by the Environment Minister, it was decided to dissolve it in EPCO.
- In the year 2009, the CDM agency was constituted by the State Government in the Environment Department under the Societies Act. After this the name of CDM Agency was changed to Center for Climate Change and Sustainable Development.
- By establishing the State Climate Change and Knowledge Management Center in APCO by the State Government, APCO was entrusted with the responsibility of the State Designated Agency.
- The activities and human resources of this knowledge center are funded by the Union Ministry of Science and Technology under the National Climate Change Knowledge Mission.
