Why In News?
On November 21, 2022, Haryana's Development and Panchayat and Archeology Minister Devendra Singh Babli told in the expansion program of Antyodaya families of Ayushman Bharat Yojana organized at the community center located in Sector-7 of Gohana tehsil of the state that the state under the able leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Chirayu Haryana Scheme has been started, under which the needy and the underprivileged will be able to get the best treatment facilities free of cost.

- Mr. Devender Singh Babli said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Ayushman Bharat Yojana with the aim of providing free treatment facility to the needy, which chief minister Manohar Lal has extended and taken exemplary steps towards benefiting the needy of the state and this scheme has now been named 'Chirayu Haryana'.
- The expenditure of these families up to Rs 5 lakh will be borne by the state government.
- He said that now more than 28 lakh families in the state will get the benefit of this scheme. With the expansion of the scheme, more than 12 lakh new BPL families have been added to it.
- It is known that earlier there were 3 lakh 84 thousand eligible families in Sonipat district of the state and now the number of eligible families has increased to 5 lakh 48 thousand 01. It is 40 percent of the total population.
- He said that initially golden cards of this scheme have been distributed to some identified families. The remaining eligible families will be distributed cards by organizing camps at district and block level and going door-to-door.
