Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme

Why in News?
On May 9, 2022, in a press release issued by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government of Jharkhand, it has been told that in the last two and a half years, three times the benefit has been given to the self-employed under the 'Chief Minister Employment Generation Programme'.
Key Points
- Under this, loans worth Rs 59.61 crore have been disbursed among 3,976 youth in the last financial year. As a result, three times youth have got the benefit of this scheme in the last two years for self-employment.
- With the formation of the new government, the benefit of this scheme is being given from the year 2021-22 by re-starting the 'Minister Employment Generation Programme'.
- Under this, a loan of Rs. 25 lakh is provided to young citizens of the state between the ages of 18 and 45 to start their own business. Along with this 40% subsidy or Rs. 5 lakh is provided by the government.
- Only Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Minorities, Backward Class Citizens and Women of Sakhi Mandal can get the benefit of the scheme.
