- In the review meeting of the Tribal Welfare Department held under the chairmanship of Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda at Chhattisgarh Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan on August 27, 2021, it was informed that Chhattisgarh is a leading state in the whole country in recognizing the claims of individual and community forest rights.
Key Points
- According to the information received, 21,95,228 hectares of land has been distributed in the state under 4 lakh 86 thousand individual and community forest rights recognition letters.
- These include 3,60, 619 hectares of land distributed to 4,41,502 beneficiaries under individual forest rights recognition letters and 18,34,609 hectares of area under 44,524 community forest rights recognition letters.
- On this occasion, the Union Minister took detailed information about the programs being run in the interest of tribal people in Chhattisgarh and directed them to get maximum benefit by ensuring its better implementation. He laid special emphasis on the overall upliftment of the tribal class and development of their entrepreneurial skills.
