Why In News?

On July 25, 2023, 'Chhattisgarh Rural Livelihood Summit 2023' was organized under the HDFC Bank PARIVARTAN Program by Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and Society for Development Alternatives, supported by the Department of Agriculture, in the capital Raipur.

Key Points::

• The aim of the summit was to provide a platform for knowledge and experience sharing among key stakeholders involved in promoting rural livelihoods, with special emphasis on Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), government initiatives and ecosystem development.
• Also a major objective was to deliberate on a strategy to develop an enabling environment for livelihood development for women and sustainability of the respective FPOs.
• Speakers and experts shared invaluable experiences in the FPO ecosystem in other states such as Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Punjab, Maharashtra and Telangana. Provided an opportunity to all these stakeholders to come together and express their views on relevant issues and other suggestions for policies.
• HDFC Bank under its CSR (PARIVARTAN Program) has taken several initiatives to improve the livelihood of individuals across India. HDFC Bank focuses on improving the livelihood interventions of farmers, women and youth, especially through on-farm, off-farm and non-farm medium.
• HDFC Bank CSR (PARIVARTAN Program) aims to increase the income of more than 5 lakh farmers and develop the skills of more than 2 lakh youth, women and farmers. HDFC Bank CSR (PARIVARTAN Program) has also promoted local economic activism in the state through individual and group enterprises in villages.
• The conference was attended by relevant ecosystem stakeholders including directors of FPOs, public and private stakeholders and officials of the department. It also included experience sharing of successful FPOs from within and outside the state.
