Why In News?

On January 5, 2023, Jharkhand's Horticulture Director Nisha Oraon wrote a letter to all deputy commissioners informing them that a 'Chamber of Farmers' will be formed for the farmers of Dhanbad district of the state.

Key Points

• Garden Director Nisha Oraon said that under the 'One District, One Product' in Dhanbad, this year the focus will be on the production and marketing of coarse grains, for which a chamber of farmers will be formed.
• The state government has also issued a resolution regarding the Chamber of Farmers, for which Rs 210 lakh has been approved as a grant and all the DCs have been asked to form it through the District Horticulture Officer.
• The main objective of the formation of the Chamber of Farmers is to promote the possibility of market linkage between farmers and businessmen. For this, preparations are also underway to form a district level cooperation committee.
• Its entire committee will soon be formed for the process of formation of the Chamber of Farmers. In addition to some departmental officers, progressive farmers will be included in this.
