Why In News?
On December 15, 2022, the Bihar Municipality Bill, 2022 was passed amid uproar in the Patna Assembly. Under this, before demolishing public land, the local bodies will have to inform the encroachers first.
Key Points
- It was passed amid uproar by members charged over the Saran poisoning tragedy. According to the body, the marked documents can be removed only after 24 hours of issuing the body notice officer and associated documents after a notice period of 15 days.
- Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav said that the state government is coming out with a rehabilitation policy to provide alternative accommodation to the slum dwellers. As per preliminary survey, the government is preparing to rehabilitate 48,000 affected slum dwellers whose houses were demolished during the recent operations in Patna.
- Along with this, the Assembly has also passed the Bihar Technical Service Commission Bill, 2022.
