Basemetal in Sikar Dariba and Potash Deposits in Hanumangarh Satipura Area

Why In News?

  • On February 22, 2023, Dr. Subodh Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Mines, Petroleum and Water Resources, Rajasthan, said that the Geological Survey of India has found mineral base metal deposits in Dariba in Sikar district during mineral exploration and Jokhia South Block in Hanumangarh district. And potash reserves have been found in Khunja North Block.

  • Dr. Subodh Aggarwal said that GSI has completed exploration of G2 level in Sikar area and G3 level in Hanumangarh area, due to which auction proceedings for mining lease can be done after completing necessary formalities of auction in these areas. .
  • He said that according to the report of GSI, there is a possibility of 2.81 million tonnes of reserves of 0.33 per cent copper basemetal as a result of G2 level exploration in Dariba block of Sikar district and on the other hand, in Satipura sub-basin of Hanumangarh of Nagaur-Ganganagar basin. 3's exploration has resulted in reserves of about 340 million tonnes of the mineral potash.
  • Dr. Subodh Agarwal has instructed the officers to prepare a time-bound action plan and complete the necessary process of auction of these blocks on priority so that precious minerals like base metal and potash can be exploited, dependence on imports from foreign countries can be reduced and the revenue of the state can increase.
  • It is noteworthy that during the meeting of the joint working group of the state and central government, the Deputy Director General of the Geological Survey of India Ramjeevan gave the exploration report to ACS Mines.
  • Geological Survey of India's Deputy Director General Ramjeevan said that along with the mineral exploration work in the state, exploration reports are submitted by the Central Government's organizations including GSI, MECL, IBM, along with the Mineral Department.
