On February 20, 2022, for the confirmation of four thousand years old civilization in Babhaniyav of Rajatalab tehsil of Varanasi district, re-excavation was started by the Department of History and Archeology, BHU.
Key Points
- The purpose of this excavation is to find the time and details of the one-faced Shivling found in excavation done in 2020. Also, it will also be ascertained whether the records, coins and pottery received from this place are related to this area or have been established by bringing them from somewhere else.
- It is worth mentioning that in the excavation done in 2020, a temple between 8th to 5th AD, four thousand years old earthen pots and a two thousand year old wall were found. Apart from this, a one-faced Shivling was also found, but its period has not been determined yet.
- The inscription obtained from here was made by the Grami (Head), in which it is mentioned that Balyashti (Shivling) has been established here.
