Why In News?

  • On November 10, 2022, Haryana Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal informed the first state steering committee meeting held for the development of tourism infrastructure under the Swadesh Darshan-2.0 scheme of the Government of India that 5 districts including Panchkula, Yamunanagar, Mahendragarh, Faridabad and Kurukshetra have been included in the tourism hub to promote tourism in the state.

  • Chief Secretary Sanjeev Kaushal said that Swadesh Darshan-2.0 scheme is a better effective scheme to promote tourism and work should be done on it with more attention, so that employment opportunities can also be increased by developing tourism in the state.
  • He said that detailed project report is being prepared to prepare structural infrastructure for tourism in Panchkula district. Panchkula has 55 tourist destinations like Morni Hills, Yadavindra Garden, Kaushalya Dam, Nada Sahib.
  • The proposal to include Mahendragarh and Faridabad districts in the Swadesh Darshan-2.0 scheme will also be sent to the Ministry of Tourism, so that tourism can be promoted in these districts too. There are many ancient monuments like Madhogarh Fort, Birbal's Chatta, Jalmahal, Dhosi Parvat in Mahendragarh, which are being developed for tourism.
  • He said that there are 17 tourist places in Faridabad like historic Surajkund, Damdama Lake, Aravalli Golf Club, Waterfall of Sohna etc. and as per the instructions of Chief Minister Manohar Lal, work will also be done to build a special tourism section of modern level in Surajkund so that it can become a center of more attraction for tourists.
  • It is known that there are many tourist places in Yamunanagar like Adibadri, Lohagarh, Hathnikund Barrage, Kalesar National Park, Chanheti Pillar etc.
  • The Chief Secretary said that under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme 2.0, work is to be done on tourism and allied infrastructure, tourism services, human and capital development, site management and promotion etc. Apart from these, facilities and services like cultural and heritage tourism, adventure activities, rural and wellness tourism will also be worked on. For this, meetings, conference and exhibition venues and places will also be selected to promote tourism promotions.
  • Under the Swadesh Darshan 1.0 scheme, eco-tourism, wildlife, intellectual, spiritual, hilly, inaccessible areas, Tirthankar etc. sites were selected. In this scheme, tourist infrastructure is being developed at a cost of Rs 97.34 crore by including the Krishna Circuit project in Kurukshetra, Haryana.
  • In these, work is being done on 5 schemes like Multipurpose Tourism Information Center, Railing of Sarovar, Abhimanyu Ghat, Light and Sound Show, which will be completed and operated in the month of November and Thanesar Sheikh Chilli Mahal of Kurukshetra will also be included in this scheme. will be developed.
