4G Mobile Towers in Bastar District

Recently, as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' ceremony, the foundation stone laying ceremony was organized for installation of a 4G mobile tower in Sadrabodenar village of Naxal-affected Bastar district of Chhattisgarh.

- RK Garhwal, Deputy Director General (Compliance), DoT, Chhattisgarh laid the foundation stone of 4G mobile tower as part of a project of Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) of DoT.
- Under the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) project of the Department of Telecommunications, a total of 971 towers will be installed in 14 Naxal-affected districts of Chhattisgarh at a cost of Rs 848 crore.
- The commissioning of 4G enabled mobile towers will increase broadband penetration and provide coverage to many villages and help bridge the digital divide. Also, mobile coverage in these Naxal-affected areas can prove to be a game changer in tackling Left Wing Extremism.
