3 players from Haryana selected for National Sports Award 2023

Why in News?
According to information received from Haryana's Information, Public Relations and Language Department on December 21, 2023, 3 players from Haryana will be honored with the National Sports Award 2023 for outstanding performance in the Games.
Key Points
- Under the National Sports Award 2023, Haryana golfer Deeksha Dagar has been selected for the Arjuna Award.
- Sunil Kumar and Antim Panghal will get the Arjuna Award in wrestling under the National Sports Award 2023.
- Along with this, Kurukshetra University has been declared the 2nd runner -up of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad (MAKA) Trophy 2023.
- It is to be noted that the National Sports Awards are given every year by the Ministry of Youth Program and Sports to recognize & honor excellence in sports.
- For the year 2023, 2 players will be given Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award 2023 and 26 players will be given the Arjuna Award 2023. While 5 instructors will get the Dronacharya Award.
- Along with this, 3 players will be awarded Dhyan Chand Award 2023 for the achievement of life in sports and sports.
- All these National Sports Awards will be presented by the President of India at a special ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on January 9, 2024.
