150 ITIs of Uttar Pradesh will be Upgraded

Why In News?
- According to the information received from the media on February 21, 2023, the Uttar Pradesh government is going to upgrade the State Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the state. 150 ITIs have been identified for upgrading.
Key points
- This decision of the state government will benefit thousands of youths of the state and they will be able to get skills and employment according to the needs of the existing industry.
- It is known that under the Department of Vocational Education and Skill Development, a total of 305 Government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) are operating in the state, in which a total of 72 vocational training of different types are being conducted.
- According to the demand of Industry 4.0 proposals, the need to modernize the state industrial training institutes has been told. According to the demand of the modern market, such innovative business/courses should be included in the training, so that the quality of training can prepare skilled manpower according to the local/national/global industrial demand. This proposal of Tata Technology Ltd. (TTL) has been approved by the government.
- Apart from this, a MoA (Memorandum of Agreement) has also been done between Tata Technology Ltd. and the State Government (Vocational Education and Skill Development Department) in this regard.
- Rajeev Yadav, deputy director of the Skill Development Mission, said that under this MoA, a provision has been made that 13 percent of the expenditure incurred in the ITIs which will be upgraded will be given by the state government, while 87 percent will be raised by private company TTL.
