Why in News?
- On September 4, 2023, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot gave approval to convert 131 government schools of various categories into Mahatma Gandhi Government English Medium Schools.
Key Points
- It is known that the state government is making important decisions to strengthen English education in the government schools of the state. In this sequence, the Chief Minister has given approval to convert these schools into Mahatma Gandhi Government English Medium Schools.
- With the approval of the Chief Minister, 42 schools of primary level, 56 of upper primary level and 33 of higher secondary level will be converted into English medium schools. These include 8 girls' schools as well.
- These schools include 27 from Jaipur, 15 from Alwar, 13 from Baran, 12 from Jodhpur, 10-10 from Barmer and Jhunjhunu, 7-7 from Bhilwara and Karauli, 6-6 from Dausa and Dungarpur, 5 from Nagaur, 4 from Bharatpur. , 3 schools of Ajmer, 2 of Jalore and 1 school each of Kota, Rajsamand, Chittorgarh and Churu are included.
- It is worth mentioning that the Chief Minister had announced to open Mahatma Gandhi Government English Medium School in the state in the budget year 2023-24.
