Introduction
The Preamble to the Constitution of India is a concise statement that outlines the ‘Objectives Resolution’, drafted by Pandit Nehru, and adopted by the Constituent Assembly. It reflects the source, nature, objectives and aspirations of the founding fathers of the Indian Constitution.

The salient features of the Preamble that were embraced by its founding fathers include:
- Sovereign: The term "sovereign" reflects India's complete independence and freedom from foreign domination.
- Democratic: It underscores the commitment to a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It includes the right to equality (Art 14), the right to freedom of speech (Art 19), right to vote( Article 326).
- Republic: It indicates that India is a country with a representative system of government, where the head of state is elected, rather than a hereditary monarchy.
- Justice: It aims to establish a just and equitable society by adhering to the ideas of social, economic, and political justice.
- Liberty: It emphasizes individual freedom and the protection of fundamental rights. The founding fathers sought to safeguard the liberties of all citizens.
