Patna's State-Of-The-Art Planetarium

- Recently, a 6-member team from Kolkata inspected the planetarium located in Patna, after which the work of digitizing this planetarium has started.
Key Points
- Patna Planetarium will be the first such planetarium in the country, where 6 Red, Green and Blue (RGB) Pure Laser Projectors will be installed. There are many types of colors in these projectors.
- These projectors will combine RGB rays through a computer to create the actual colors for the show, giving the audience a feeling of being in space.
- This projection system will be equipped with suitable and modern technology according to the 16 meter diameter dome area. Its total cost will be Rs 36 crore 13 lakh 20 thousand.
- This projector will provide the facility to watch 2D and 3D shows.
- Significantly, there are 22 planetariums in the country, out of which Kolkata Science City and Karnataka Pilikula Swami Vivekananda Planetarium have 3D projectors. All other planetariums have 2D projectors.
- It is known that apart from Patna in Bihar, the construction work of planetarium in Gaya and Bhagalpur is also in progress.
- RGB Pure Laser Projector has a lifespan of more than 40 thousand hours. It has a cooling system. There is no harmful effect on the eyes from this projector. It has a higher brightness than a digital projector.
