Introduction 

Recently, NITI Ayog has prepared a comprehensive plan advocating adoption of methanol as the preferred cooking fuel in households as well as commercially. Methanol is a low carbon, hydrogen carrier fuel produced from high ash coal, agricultural residue, CO2 from thermal power plants and natural gas. It is often blended with gasoline to improve combustion and reduce emissions.
