  • 1. Locate the Lake which was recently news, due to the India-China Border Dispute.


    Pangong Tso lake. Pangong Tso lake in eastern Ladakh has often been in the news, due to Chinese army transgression. Pangong Tso is a long narrow, deep, saltwater, endorheic (landlocked) lake situated at a height of more than 14,000 ft in the Ladakh Himalayas. It is the world’s highest saltwater lake. The LAC cuts through the lake, but India and China do not agree on its exact location.


  • 2. Identify this island which was recently devastated by the cyclone Amphan.


    Sagar Island. Due to the cyclone Amphan, Sagar island which lies on the coast of West Bengal got devastated. Sagar Island is about 80 km south of Kolkata, cut off from the mainland by Muriganga river. The Gangasagar fair and pilgrimage is held annually on Sagar Island's southern tip, where the Ganges enters the Bay of Bengal. This confluence is also called Gangasagar or Gangasagara.


  • 3. Identify this port city which was recently in news due to the Styrene gas leak disaster.


    Visakhapatnam (also known as Vizag). The disastrous leak of a toxic styrene gas from plastic making plant owned by LG Polymers Pvt Ltd has killed several people and left hundreds sick near Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. Visakhapatnam's history stretches back to the 6th century BCE when it was considered a part of the Kalinga Kingdom and later ruled by the Pallava and Eastern Ganga dynasties. The European powers set up trading interests in the city, and by the end of the 18th century, it had come under French rule. The control passed to the British Raj in 1804 and it remained under British colonial rule until India's independence in 1947. The city is home to the oldest shipyard and the only natural harbour on the east coast of India.


  • 4. Identify the pass that is located at the tri-junction of India, Nepal and China.


    Lipulekh Pass. Lipulekh is a Himalayan pass on the border between India's Uttarakhand state and the Tibet region of China, near their trijunction with Nepal. The recent dispute over the Kalapani and Lipulekh between India and Nepal is a manifestation of the deteriorating relations between the two countries. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, a Hinduism pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, traverses this pass. This pass was the first Indian border post to be opened for trade with China in 1992.


  • 5. Locate the Naval establishment where the missile park "Agneeprastha" will be established.


    INS Kalinga. Recently, the foundation stone for a missile park "Agneeprastha" was laid at INS Kalinga. The Missile Park ‘Agneeprastha’ aims to capture glimpses of missile history of INS Kalinga from its establishment in 1981 till date. INS Kalinga is a premier Naval Establishment located on the Visakhapatnam- Bheemunipatnam beach road under the Eastern Naval Command.
