Identify Places On Map
  • 1. Identify the State where the Phayeng village has developed itself as India’s first carbon-positive settlement.

Manipur’s Phayeng village in Imphal West district has developed itself as India’s first carbon-positive settlement. A village is given the carbon-positive tag if it sequesters more carbon than it emits, slowing the accumulation of greenhouse gases and mitigating the effects of climate change. The transformation of the village from the dry and denuded village in the 1970s and 80s was funded under the National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change (NAFCC).

In Tamil Nadu, the GRAPES-3 muon telescope facility is located in Ooty. For the first time in the world, researchers at the GRAPES-3 muon telescope facility in Ooty have measured the electrical potential, size and height of a thundercloud that passed overhead on December 1, 2014. At 1.3 gigavolts (GV), this cloud had 10 times higher potential than the previous record in a cloud. This is not because clouds with such high potentials are a rarity, but rather, because the methods of detection have not been successful so far.

  • 4. Identify the State where the Ahmad Sar Lake is located.

In Gujarat, the Ahmad Sar Lake at Sarkhej Roza, Ahmedabad has dried. Several parts of Gujarat are facing severe water scarcity in the initial days of the summer season.
