Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh Banarasi paan and langda mango of Varanasi have been awarded the Geographical Indication (GI) tag which signifies that products from a specific geographical location possess qualities that are due to that origin. Along with Banarasi paan and langda mango Ramnagar Bhanta (Brinjal) and Adamchini Rice have also been awarded the GI tag. The UP government had filed GI applications for 20 state-based products during the Covid phase in collaboration with NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development).
