Sadhu Bet Island: The Statue of Unity is built on Sadhu Bet Island (Kevadiya district, Gujarat), which is about 3 kms downstream from Sardar Sarovar dam on the river Narmada. The Statue is located between the Satpura and the Vindhya mountain ranges. It has been built in dedication to Iron Man- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He was India's first home minister and is credited with uniting all 562 princely states in pre-independent India to build the Republic of India -- hence the name of the statue.
